Canada Year Book Historical Collection

A century of historical data contained in Statistics Canada’s annual Canada Year Book has now been made available online. The year books from 1867–1967 have been digitized in their entirety and are even text-searchable. This makes it easy to quickly check a fact or look up information, but there is much more available to educators. The data has been organized by year, theme and format and is accompanied by the original summaries that appeared in each Canada Year Book. Stats Canada has also compiled a Teacher’s Tool Box that contains thematic lesson plans that use the data for historical inquiry exercises.
