Canada’s History: Teachers nominated for GG Awards earn local recognition

July 7, 2010

Since the finalists for the 2010 Governor General’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History were announced last month by Canada’s History Society, a number of the nominees have been in the news.

Pam Calvert, Jennifer Smoulders, Trevor Elmslie, Andrew Stickings and Nancy Crousset are among the 25 finalists, from which six winners will be chosen.

Presented by Canada’s History Society in partnership with TD Bank Financial Group, the nation’s top teaching prize is now in its 15th year. The awards honour teachers who excel at bringing history to life for their students.
