Postmedia News: New book chronicles birth of ‘politics of fear’

A new book to be launched on the 100th anniversary of the 1911 federal election argues that the vote that ended the “Age of Laurier” and made Robert Borden the country’s new Conservative prime minister was the “mother of all Canadian elections” — an existential struggle over Canada’s place in the world and a colossal contest of wills between two “giants” of national politics.
